A challenge for sure. I love the idea of getting to know St. Catherine better for this new baby. I am going to print that prayer, thank you again. I know that can be stressful for a lot of people. I'm cracking up that you're in jeans because we're breaking heat records over here. My car said it was 109 earlier today, and this weekend will be HOT too. I've seen people recommend that book, and I love the idea of creating an inviting home. I think it's good to just be honest about how much you can commit to. 30 minutes it far with a toddler! If you really want to, maybe you could just try it out and let them know you might have to drop if it's too much. How great to have those opportunities though!Laura https://www.blogger.com/profile/17306677582500633622noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1345474462993746539.post-71764380567481921472017-09-01T15:33:23.801-04:002017-09-01T15:33:23.801-04:00That book looks really awesome! I was just thinking about the whole balance of committing and over-committing yesterday. I got together with a friend of mine who is pretty much a retreat junkie, and she was inviting me to different retreats and talking about all these retreats she's going on soon, and I realized that 1. This is a tough season of life for me with retreat-y type things, since my lil' guy still nurses a lot (so I can't leave him for a weekend) and he's too active to take with me and 2. I have to pull back from stuff so that I still have life and energy to give to my husband and son. Prior to marriage, I would commit to tons of cool groups and activities, but since getting married, I've been trying to make a conscious effort to make open times on the calendar to just "be." It's definitely a challenge to find that balance! St. Catherine of Siena has always been my go to. My levels went lower and lower until I was waiting to hear the news of miscarriage. On the feast day of St. Catherine of Siena we received a call letting us know my numbers had unexpectedly quadrupled.

Here's a prayer that we have prayed every day of our three pregnancies...

Humble virgin and Doctor of the Church, in thirty-three years you achieved great perfection and became the counselor of Popes. You know the temptations of mothers today as well as the dangers that await unborn infants. Intercede for me that I may avoid miscarriage and bring forth a healthy baby who will become a true child of God. Also pray for all mothers, that they may not resort to abortion but help bring a new life into the world. Amen.

Cheers to jeans!
